1) Who are you?

Please introduce yourself. Let us know a bit about who you are, where you are coming from, and what you are working on [you can delete this line].

I’m a digital education consultant with the Office for Digital Learning at Ulster University in Northern Ireland. My education and research interests include creativity, reflection, accessibility, Wikipedia, digital skills/literacies. A pencil is just as much an important technology today as it ever was.

I’m also co-chair of ALT Northern Ireland Members Group and studying for a PhD at the University of Edinburgh, even though I work full time and have a busy family life.

It is amazing that we are now attending a bigger conference in the online space so waves from me to wherever you are reading this from.

2) What is your vibe? Share it in a meme or quote…

Believe that a further shore is reachable from here, Seamus Heaney

3) What gives you hope these days?

People coming together (in an apart kind of way of course) to help each other through this. So many people are putting themselves at risk for others and I hope that after things settle down we will all be able to show real appreciation for their work.

Nature. I’ve set myself up to work from home in my living room window and am amazed by the diversity of things happening in my small city garden – birds, plants, bees. It is an absolute privilege to be safely inside with my family watching spring unfold before me.

4) Who are you learning from lately?

All of my colleagues who are absolutely amazing, I learn new things from them every day. Also, open networks #altc, #oer, #femedtech and many more.

5) In your opinion, what should we all be caring about? Why?

We should all be focusing on how each of us, in our small to big ways, can contribute some humanity at this time. Reaching out to those who need help and ensuring that we teach in ways that touches all students, from those with access to technology to those that don’t. This is a lesson which I hope stays with us, teaching in the most inclusive manner that we can, leaving no one behind.

6) What do you hope to take away from OER20?

As much, if not more than last year. Some light relief from the intense work period of the last couple of weeks, being challenged about my values and assumptions and maybe even meeting new OER colleagues. And of course, the #FemEdTechQuilt reveal …
