1) Who are you?
Hi to all……Dr. Deepa Verma here, Vice-Principal at VIVA College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Virar , Maharashtra. I am a passionate learner myself, having said that I am currently pursuing my Masters in Psychology as I have always been fascinated by the Human Mind. I am a passionate teacher as well and always there for my students for everything that they want to know. Love my family and believe in doing good work for the society. My hobbies are also varied – sketching, painting, gardening, crocheting and all these activities give a lot of stability, focus and happiness to me. Developing OERs has also become one of my favorite things, I love to promote it and sensitize people about its need and how to go about it.
2) What is your vibe? Share it in a meme or quote…
If you can make a change for the better …then You should……..
Keep smiling always…….
3) What gives you hope these days?
HOPE itself gives me hope – Every morning when i get up and i realise that i would be getting another day in my life to live gives hope that everything is going to be just alright. Extraordinary people in the world give me hope that the world still has angels to take care of the life on earth.
4) Who are you learning from lately?
Learning from everyone, Courage and Sense of responsibility from all the people who are the frontliners in the fight against Covid 19 as well as from the team of TLC, SNDT, Mumbai which is being carried out under guidance of Dr. Vasudha Kamat, Dr. Jayshree Shinde and their entire team (who conducted two back to back online workshops although there was lockdown); Determination from OER20 team that where there is will there is a way; Encouragement from my brother, friend and colleague Dr. Rohan Gavankar who always pushes me to give my best; Motivation from my dear friend Mr. Mahesh Deshmukh and my dear little sister Ms. Madhvi Chawan who are always there to lift my spirits.
Your own students can not be left out when it comes to learning and when they become your colleagues then it adds up to it, Dr. Basil D’Mello, Mr. Vinodkumar Didwana, Mr. Vikas Gupta have all been making me learn new things these days which is helping me to improve the quality of my content.
Then wow there are so many other friends across the Globe as well as in different states/ cities of India who are directly/ indirectly inspiring people like me to do our best – Paul Stacey, Tania, Mitja Jermol, Jenni Hayman, Anja Polajnar, Nicole Allen, Alek, Jennryn Wetzler, Dominik T., Leo Haveman, Hillary, Mahumad, Karolina, Ebba, Verena Roberts, My dear 3.00 am friend – Annapurna Madhuri, Dr. Ganesh Chavan, Dr. Mahesh K, Dr. Rekha, Dr Sneha, Mrs Gomati S. and my friend and critic Mr. Sandeep Patil.
Igor and Gino from South Africa are members of my extended family and they give a lot of encouragement and support and are always there as guiding forces.
Spencer Ellis from Colorado is a buddy and a great person and when is on to something he gets it done and this is what is so very good about him to learn.
Sense of being loved and belonging – comes from my family.
5) In your opinion, what should we all be caring about? Why?
We should be caring about the world on a larger picture and not just focus on ourselves, we could not be leaving a world of despair, distress and problems for our future generation; there is a serious introspection needed so as to make the world a better place for all.
6) What do you hope to take away from OER20?
Hope itself is what I am going to take away, this is what keeps us ticking and feel alive. Would be taking away a lot of learning and ideas of people across the world
