1) Who are you?
I’m a Senior Lecturer at The Open University where I’ve worked designing courses and teaching languages for the last twenty years. I’ve researched open education and the integration of open practices in teachers’ professional development. Recently I’ve completed my doctorate in education on online volunteer translation communities with an investigation of TED Translators, and am developing ideas around the opportunities offered by open content, tools and practices to further the integration of formal and informal learning.
2) What is your vibe? Share it in a meme or quote…
Be kind, always.
3) What gives you hope these days?
Nature, the fact that in the middle of all this, the Earth is having a much needed break from us.
4) Who are you learning from lately?
My children, who are young adults.
5) In your opinion, what should we all be caring about? Why?
Each other, because every life is precious.
6) What do you hope to take away from OER20?
I’m very interested in solidarity, improving everybody’s lives and looking out for each other, and ensuring that openness is used to further those ideas.
