1) Who are you?

Hey, I’m Autumm (the one with the 2 m’s). I’m an Instructional Designer and Intermittent Lecturer in Integrated Studies at University of Michigan – Dearborn and one of the Co-Directors of Virtually Connecting. I sometimes ask questions out loud on the internet and sometimes people answer (sometimes I only answer myself) – when I do this I use #DigCiz #DigPINS or maybe something else. You can find a curation of my work at autumm.org. I’m interested in connected communities of learning, digital literacy, equity in education, openness, and technology’s impacts on society with special emphasis on personal and student privacy. I make simple websites often with WordPress and share my voice when I can find it.

I also like pretty pictures

2) What is your vibe? Share it in a meme or quote…

Autumm Caines is a Liminal Space

3) What gives you hope these days?

The perseverance of communities in the face of toxic individualism and the strength of sensible individualism in support of the community.

4) Who are you learning from lately?

I learn from close connections in broad networks. My Co-Directors in Virtually Connecting: Rebecca Hogue, Maha Bali, Helen DeWaard and Christian Friedrich; my collaborators in #DigCiz and #DigPINS Sundi Richard, Joe Murphy, Taylor Jadin, and Daniel Lynds. My co-workers at UMich-Dearborn Carla Vecchiola, Belen Hurtado and Alfonso Sintjago; my neighbors across the river and admired interlocutors Bonnie Stewart and Dave Cormier; and my digital privacy Sensei Chris Gilliard. I’m sure I’ve left some out – this is not a fair question – there are too many to list.

5) In your opinion, what should we all be caring about? Why?

Each other, because what else is there really?

6) What do you hope to take away from OER20?

New thinking and new connections
