1) Who are you?

I’m a Learning Technologist with the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching at NUI Galway. I’m currently working on the Irish Universities Association Enhancing Digital Teaching and Learning project. My work focuses on the informed and ethical use of technology in higher education, learning design, and open practice.

I am SecretaryNational Executive of the Computers in Education Society of Ireland (CESI) and I chaired our 2019 and 2020 conferences. I was a Digital Pedagogy Lab Fellow in 2019.

2) What is your vibe? Share it in a meme or quote…

Lisa Simpson making a presentation - the slides reads: This is not online teaching (meme)

3) What gives you hope these days?

I live in the Irish countryside, so I’m enjoying being at home during spring to get outdoors more and walk the dog. My surroundings are providing me with some much-needed peace.

4) Who are you learning from lately?

Our project team is meeting regularly for coffee breaks and webinars where we discuss teaching during this crisis. It’s really useful to have that network at this critical time, as we all have different institutional contexts.

5) In your opinion, what should we all be caring about? Why?

We should be caring for our most vulnerable, from students to our friends and neighbours. We need to be human and kind.

6) What do you hope to take away from OER20?

In the chaos of the past weeks, I haven’t prepped much for OER20, so I hope to be pleasantly surprised! 🙂
