1) Who are you?

I’m an educator, a relocated Maritimer, a parent who hasn’t been alone since March 12. Currently Assistant Professor of Online Pedagogy and Workplace Learning at the University of Windsor, in Canada, on the border of Detroit. I used to call myself a social media fortune teller. I miss that tongue-in-cheek arrogance.

2) What is your vibe? Share it in a meme or quote…

I’ve spent 35 years working on kind of a Bowie/Annie Lennox vibe but I live in pajamas now so these days my new pandemic vibe is Piglet, the small anxious animal who repeats things a lot.

3) What gives you hope these days?

Cookies. Coffee. Waking up with my family and noticing that it’s nice not to *have* to go anywhere, even if it bites to not be *able* to go anywhere.

4) Who are you learning from lately?

My children. My partner. My affinity groups, online and off and overlapping: my tightest one is a small neighbour group for which I am deeply grateful, because we are learning to care for each other in the small next-door ways that we can still manage safely. Also the four seasons of The Gilmore Girls my 11yr old has talked me into watching in the past 2.5 weeks.

5) In your opinion, what should we all be caring about? Why?

The inequities this pandemic is only going to amplify.

6) What do you hope to take away from OER20?

A sense of the world outside the very busy and very contained microcosm of my home.
