1) Who are you?

I am a family member (mother to two beautiful young adult sons) and spouse (married to Terry Williams). I also have a large extended family in Canada, the U.S., and Ireland! I am a volunteer open educator with the Open Education for a Better World Project (#OE4BW), and I create what I hope are useful OER from time to time on post-secondary education topics. I am a global community member in partnership with hundreds of open global educators. They help keep me grounded and well-informed. I am the Chair, Teaching and Learning at Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario. I lead in service to the amazing and completely talented @cambrianhub team and their equally amazing Learning Centre colleagues at the College, and ultimately in service to our fantatic and courageous students. I am an Ontario educator and stay connected with many smart and savvy digital and open educators there. I am an Associate Faculty member at Royal Roads University this summer teaching in their highly regarded Masters of Arts in Learning and Technology (MALAT) program. I am a researcher and an observer learning in a wonderously rich human-driven, digital landscape every day.

2) What is your vibe? Share it in a meme or quote…

You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them. ~ Maya Angelou

3) What gives you hope these days?

The astounding courage I’m witnessing in health care workers in the face of a ferocious, invisible enemy.

4) Who are you learning from lately?

My trusted group of Twitter educator-friends that know well-researched teaching practice from quick-fix nonsense.

5) In your opinion, what should we all be caring about? Why?

We should be caring about the young adult generation that is about to lose nearly everything to a massive global economic crisis that will take a decade to recover. Things will not be the same for them as they were for many of us. They are going to need every encouragement, learning, and support opportunity we can provide them. That is how the world will continue on.

6) What do you hope to take away from OER20?

While juggling my continuing family and College support priorities, I very much hope to learn a few new things and to connect with great joy with presenters and participants whose work I know and love.
