1) Who are you?
I’m Rich Goodman, Learning Technology Team Manager at Loughborough University. I’m a member ALT, co-chair of the ALT East Midlands Learning Technologists group, and regular conference tweeter alongside Lorna M. Campbell. I’m also chair of the ucisa Digital Education Group.
I’ve been at Loughborough since 1992, as both student and member of staff. Consequently I remember when digital education “was all just fields”, as was our campus, as well as many parts of the internet back then. The alumni association motto “Loughborough is for life” appears to be true.
I have worked on many digital education related projects during my time at Loughborough, including Project ACORN (an eLib project), Learn – the University’s virtual learning environment launched in 1999, Steeple BR, MEGS, RAPID, DART, EASIMAP, WFA, CAA/QMP, SOCReF and some others that don’t have creative acronyms.
I once wrote a poem entitled “What is Open?” which appeared in the book “Cost of Freedom” https://book.costoffreedom.cc/book/opening:freedom/what-is-open.html
It was turned into a spoken word piece for Disquiet Junto Project 0202: Text-to-Speech-to-Free by Michel Banabila

2) What is your vibe? Share it in a meme or quote…
“When my information changes, I alter my conclusions. What do you do, sir?” – John Maynard Keynes
3) What gives you hope these days?
This morning, I found this piece of writing from Emma Zeck:-
With this open time
You do not have to write the next bestselling novel
You do not have to get in the best shape of your life
You do not have to start that podcast
What you can do instead is observe this pause as an opportunity
The same systems we see crumbling in society are being called to crumble in each of us individually
The systems that taught us we are machines that live to produce and we are disposable if we are not doing so
The systems that taught us monetary gain takes priority over humanity
The systems that create our insecurities then capitalize off them
What if we became curious with this free time, and had no agenda other than to experience being?
What if you created art for the sake of creating?
What if you allowed yourself to rest and cry and laugh and play and get curious about whatever arises in you?
What if our true purpose is in this space?
As if mother earth is saying: we can no longer carry on this way. The time is now – I am reminding you who you are. Will you remember?
4) Who are you learning from lately?
I’m always learning from friends and colleagues on Twitter.
5) In your opinion, what should we all be caring about? Why?
We should always be looking out for all of our fellow planet dwellers.
6) What do you hope to take away from OER20?
A chance to connect with people whilst we are all staying safe at home.
