1) Who are you?

I’m a librarian currently working at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. I’m deeply committed to open access and the idea that education is crucial to the fabric that keeps society together. As such, it should be considered a human necessity right next to air and water. I’m also passionate about the environment, and love animals.

2) What is your vibe? Share it in a meme or quote…

I’m very enthusiastic, but this can lead me to taking on too much at any given time… I care deeply about the environment, get frustrated with politics, and love animals and plants. I would love a domestically bred pet octopus.

3) What gives you hope these days?

The OER movement. The expanding availability of education and research, and hope that with this expansion great young minds will come up with new solutions to the seemingly hopeless problems the world currently faces. At the minimum, I hope education will lead to an increase in empathy.

4) Who are you learning from lately?

My boss. Reddit. Youtube. OER week 2020 was eye-opening.

5) In your opinion, what should we all be caring about? Why?

The environment. Because everything else we care about will cease to matter if the air and water are poison.

6) What do you hope to take away from OER20?

I hope to learn about new and emerging OER methods (ex more “non-disposable” types of assignments, more resources both physical and non-physical, softwares, etc). I hope to learn about digital organization methods.
