1) Who are you?
Hi I’m Sarah Lambert from Melbourne, Australia. I’m a social justice and open education researcher and long-time Higher Education worker, with a background in ed-tech, teaching, music, journalism, graphic design, small business ownership and radio. I currently work for Deakin University, in the Diversity and Inclusion unit. I’m currently leading the Australian Open Textbooks project http://australianopentextbooks.edu.au
2) What is your vibe? Share it in a meme or quote…
““We are moved by remediable injustices around us, which we want to eliminate…inequalities and subjugations from which we suffer and which we have good reason to resent” Amartya Sen, 2009, The Idea of Justice.
3) What gives you hope these days?
How fine my kids are when I ring them even when their work is precarious and many things are uncertain, the coming together of community over this pandemic, the sunshine and my garden. Oh and the fact that Sally McManus, Secretary of the Australian Council of Trade Unions not only helped negotiate the current financial aid for many Australians impacted by COVID19, but that she’s being taken so very seriously. Solidarity is sexy again. 🙂
4) Who are you learning from lately?
My kids. My neighbours. My colleagues. My Twitter friends. The authors I’m collaborating with. 🙂
5) In your opinion, what should we all be caring about? Why?
I think we should all be caring about how we can act, resist and make a difference – in quite different ways. If we all care about the same thing, it’s a fad, no good. Care about what is needed in your community and care about the things you can change with your skills and experiences.
6) What do you hope to take away from OER20?
New friends and new ideas.
