Hello all, This is Dr. Rohan Vilas Mamta Gavankar
I am from one of the busiest metro of my Country India and if you have guessed it to be Mumbai 😉 you are absolutely right.
I am an Assistant professor in Department of Botany and Coordinator of Department of Biotechnology in VIVA college, virar west, India
I am passionate teacher and love to research in the field of plant sciences , yeast diversity and probiotics.
My interest and kind of commitment lies in Developing OERs.

3) What gives you hope these days?
These days what really gives me Hope are My Grandmother who is 98 years old, My Parents and My In laws who are there in late 60s and early 70S and still very active… touch wood.
I see sparkle in the eyes of My beloved wife and the one who ignites my ATPs is my son Shourya 🤗
My work and My passion for teaching keeps me on and going …
Lastly the main source of my Inspiration is the Handsome Man whom I know very closely, whom I meet every day … WHO IS HE… He is the one whom I see when I look in the mirror … He tells me .. You are the best … You can do it…🥰
4) Who are you learning from lately?
Learning every day from whoever I meet
During the meetings I learned from the Co- Chairs and the ALT organizing team of OER20.
My mentors Prof. Vasudha Kamat and Dr. Jayashree Shinde who introduced me to the world of openess in education.
My Ph.D. guide Dr. Maya S. Chemburkar and my Mentor Prof. L.S.Shashidharan.
I have been learning and kept motivated by my Friend and colleague, she is a bundle of kindness Dr. Deepa Verma who is very supportive and inspiring. She is also a conference committee member like me.
working cheerfully and dedicatedly is what I have learnt from my colleague friends Dr. Basil D’Mello and Mr. Vinod Didwana.
The most impactful learning has come from these like minded personalities viz., Paul Stacey, Tania, Mitja Jermol, Jenni Hayman, Anja, Nicole Allen, Alek, Jeneryn Wetzler, Dominik T., Leo Haveman,Hillary, Mahumad, Karolina, Ebba. Verena Roberts, Mrs. Annapurna Madhuri, Dr. Ganesh Chavan, Dr. Mahesh K. Dr. Rekha, Dr.Rajesh C Dr Sneha, Mrs Gomati S. and Sandeep Patil.
Importantly I learn from my dearest friends and now family who are from South Africa Igor Lesko and Gino Fransman. My superhero Buddy Spencer Ellis from the US.
Lastly from My Sweetheart and Lovely friend Dr. Sudhir Verma who taught me how to be composed and organized…..
5) In your opinion, what should we all be caring about? Why?
In my opinion we all should care about the quality which we get from the day we are born…………..and that is ” HUMANITY ” . We need to conserve and nurture this till we march towards the end of our life.
We should imbibe this quality in us and this will guide us to care every existing creature in the universe.
I feel Care for Humanity and in return you will be taken care🤗
6) What do you hope to take away from OER20?
OER20 creates a History( going online), it gives a platform to exchange ideas and smiles which is needed in this period of pandemic outbreak.
