I like the idea of ditching disposable assignments and using renewable assignments aligned with the SDGs instead. This could make the assignment a productive activity which can be reused, regenerated and referenced again and again. It also gives learners more agency about taking responsibility for their topic choice, research and interaction with other learners, and crucially reflecting on that (interaction with others doesn’t always go as planned so why didn’t it, what mistakes were made, what would they do differently next time, etc).
